It's The Feeling You Get

It's the feel you get after...

having moved 3 truck loads of your crap up a small service elevator
having your mattress fly off the roof of the jeep when you know you tied it on properly
bringing a 10 foot counter top up 11 floors
realizing that you are missing a bunch of home essentials
opening your fridge only to find a beer, a dozen eggs and a jar of mayonnaise

Then, late at night when you have zero energy and your sitting down on an bench you made out of your moving boxes, you look around around and say "hey, I made it, I'm home".

That's the best feeling.

Awesome Experience

I got up at 4:00 this morning to attend the Papal Mass at the Downsview Fields.

My father and I arrived at the fields shortly after 6:30 only to be confronted with massive crows and a thunderstorm moving in. The next 3 hours were a pain in the butt as we tried to secure a good view of the Pope.

The Pope's helicopter arrived at 9:30, and by that time the thunderstorm had gotten much worst. We got a quick glance at the Pope in the Popemobile as he made his way to the stage, it was truly amazing!

When the Pontiff began the mass the skies quickly became clear, it was quite something to see.

The most amazing thing today had to be the sea of people in attendance. Close to one million I hear.

All and All, it was worth the sacrifice of long line ups, getting wet, blazing summer heat and pushy crowds to witness such a breathtaking event.

World Youth Day

Ever since World Youth Days in Toronto officially got started this week I can’t help but be inspired by what is going on in this city. Everywhere you look there are groups of youths waving flags, chanting and having a great time. I was fortunate enough to be in Paris a couple years back and experience first hand what World Youth Days is. I was not part of World Youth Days this year and I now wish that I had been. I can’t remember the last time I felt as good as the first time I saw the Pope after standing all day and all night in the blazing summer heat, and the feeling I got when he came right by me.

This morning I awoke to kids screaming on my street. I looked outside to see what all the commotion was about and saw all the fun they where having on the way to see the Pope arrive. :/ - it made me reflect a lot. So, as I continue to see these kids this week attend their World Youth Days events I can’t help but have a smile on my face and remember how great my experience was and how grand life is.

Ask yourself if you are really happy.

I saw the most amazing movie last night. It’s called Thirteen Conversations About One Thing, I recommend seeing it. This film brings together 5 stories into one that examines the dramatic impact people have on one another. Some of the ideas it explores are: the meaning of true happiness, the notion of karma and the eternal power of hope.

I found myself thinking a lot during this film about the relevance of the story line in our increasingly disorderly world.

During the film, they had these saying come up on the screen. Here are a few that I remember.

-Fortunes smiles at some, and laughs at others

-Wisdom comes suddenly

-Ignorance is bliss

-Show me a happy man

-You look so serious

-Once I knew a happy man, his happiness was a curse

Check out the trailer to this movie, it’s really worth it.
